- Feb 5: Moore Square AIG/GT Magnet School in Raleigh, NC had the experience of making a ham radio contact with Scott Tingle. The gym was packed with 50 adults and the entire school; 200 kids madly cheered! Students took part in the Tomatosphere Citizen Science project, did mock astronaut training at Marbles Kids Museum after enjoying the Hubble 3D IMAX movie, conducted research and later composed their ARISS questions, and were involved in amateur radio lessons from guest speakers. The teacher was interviewed by reporters from WFXI-TV, WNCN-TV, WRAL-TV, WTVD-TV, Wake County Public School System Communications, and the school newspaper. - Jan 31: Students from Central Magnet Math & Science Elementary School in Batesville, AR had the privilege of sharing a Q & A session with Joe Acaba. The school is recognized for its strong STEM program, having won robotics competitions and sending fifth graders each fall to Space Camp in Huntsville, AL. The school representative said, “We were all holding our breath waiting for Scott Tingle to answer. You could really feel the excitement in the auditorium! Student studies focused on the ISS, its research, space travel, and STEM careers.” Acaba answered 18 questions while an audience of over 400 looked on.
